if you decide to keep a list of your shows at db.etree, there is a 'want list' feature which you can use

and depending on the type of 'skin' you use for your list, there is also a 'notes' section where you can put your own comments

obviously it also keeps track of the shows you have

i do have a couple of lists at db.etree, and used to take the time to keep them more or less updated, but that impulse died a long time ago and i only rarely will make an effort to update it, however, i never used my online list as the definitive list of what i have (i keep a spreadsheet for that) and anyone who stumbles on my online list will at least get a general idea of the music i collect and go from there

I thought a spreadsheet would be a little OCD but maybe not... or maybe it takes a little obsessiveness to want to collect these things.

Here's a screenshot what I put together - would love to see screenshots of how you guys manage it.

i should mention that if you join Lossless Legs (http://www.shnflac.net/index.php), i do recall several forum topics devoted to the very questions you are raising, and the folks over there, more or less, are quite helpful and you would be doing yourself a favor by joining that site, it has all things GD/Jerry related

Excel spreadsheet. The print view of a couple pages are attached. I use the 'insert comment' function to add information, such as if the date is for only one set, the pros/cons of multiple copies of the same show, whether I patched other sources into the recording, highlights of the show, especially great songs, details on recording quality, etc. Even though that info isn't shown, I can easily search for those variables, such as if I want a great Keith show or a killer Eyes.

There is a second worksheet set up the same that has my 'wish list'.

well, i have no idea how to do a screen shot, but if you can visualize it, i basically just use 2 colums, one with the show info and another column with the DVD data disk # i have the show archived to, that's it no other info, and i basically use the archive.org naming structure for the shows, so as to have the shnid info, which if you collect GD/JGB, is pretty important; the only add'l info i add is the venue, so my list will look like the following multiplied by several hundred:

gd1968-10-12.avalon-ballroom.sbd.miller.86759.flac16

and that gives me all the info. i really need, in terms of knowing what i have

the shows are entered onto the spreadsheet in date order so i can find a show or see what i have in a matter of seconds; the thing is, this is what works for me, but i don't keep notes other than what i can carry around in my head, but others require more detail or reviews, comments, etc., and that's what works for them; so basically, you just need to find the system that works best for you
